Speaking personally, I've actually come from an academic programming background, so I've actually already taken on other tasks and I felt I've been more effective as a tester being able to develop my own tools and understand and control my own environments. So I fully agree that testers can benefit from picking up technical skills and performing other tasks - while still being a good tester and not losing the ability to think outside the box.Matthew Brettenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15187427748744845028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7598190175117779404.post-9862871992448141012015-08-20T03:10:40.808+01:002015-08-20T03:10:40.808+01:00Nice write-up. Over time, you may even begin to pick up technical skills and take on other tasks. Some teams rotate roles so that you aren't always the "tester". The tester's mindset is valuable regardless of the tasks that you carry out on any given day.Philip Heathhttp://www.thattestingguy.comnoreply@blogger.com
