Testing can be scripted or exploratory, it can be about functional requirements, about performance or about UX, but it's still
'just' testing, it's not QA.

QA is much more than testing. It is about securing Quality throughout the software life cycle. It includes peer reviews, risk analysis, root cause analysis and improvement actions for bug prevention and maintainability. Bug prevention is as important as bug fixing. It's about collecting statistics about bugs and hotfixes and analysing them to find trends and to see the effect of measures that one takes to improve quality and to increase customer satisfaction.

QA implies testing, but in some cases, the testing may even be optional, because a company may focus on algorithmic proof of a program beforehand, instead of testing aftwerwards.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17535437851942294488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7598190175117779404.post-68985074985461379402016-10-26T03:18:12.848+01:002016-10-26T03:18:12.848+01:00I love this article.I love this article.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18259375503459398147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7598190175117779404.post-62705739487830827322016-10-26T00:09:49.595+01:002016-10-26T00:09:49.595+01:00Thank you :)Thank you :)Rosie Sherryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09116312694449628348noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7598190175117779404.post-23121098982673846702016-10-24T19:56:27.385+01:002016-10-24T19:56:27.385+01:00All plugs welcome Damian haha! Speaking personally, I've actually come from an academic programming background, so I've actually already taken on other tasks and I felt I've been more effective as a tester being able to develop my own tools and understand and control my own environments. So I fully agree that testers can benefit from picking up technical skills and performing other tasks - while still being a good tester and not losing the ability to think outside the box.Matthew Brettenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15187427748744845028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7598190175117779404.post-9862871992448141012015-08-20T03:10:40.808+01:002015-08-20T03:10:40.808+01:00Nice write-up. Over time, you may even begin to pick up technical skills and take on other tasks. Some teams rotate roles so that you aren't always the "tester". The tester's mindset is valuable regardless of the tasks that you carry out on any given day.Philip Heathhttp://www.thattestingguy.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7598190175117779404.post-46226937079368379662015-08-15T09:05:51.490+01:002015-08-15T09:05:51.490+01:00This comment has been hidden from the blog.Teksperthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01410901796503366161noreply@blogger.com
